The Horse

What is this intense influence that horses have on humans? Why do people love horses so passionatley? Even people who don't handle horses understand that they have a special gift of power and gentleness.

Horses are attuned to extensions of a sense that we do not have, or have completely lost touch with...living by voices we do not hear anymore. They live in a world of deep feeling, of allowing, of harmony and knowledge that the entire herd has to work together as a common entity in order to survive.

Horses are not complicated, neither are the deepest spiritual truths. It is humankind who makes the simplest truths complicated.

Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with strength? His majestic snorting is terrible. He paws the valley, and exults in his strength; he goes out to meet the weapons. He laughs at fear, and is not dismayed; he does not turn back from the sword. Upon him mantle the quiver, the flashing spear and the javelin. With fierceness and rage he swallows the ground...

Job 39:19-24

When God created the horse, he said to the magnificient creature: "I have made thee unlike any other. All the treasures of the earth lie between thy hooves, but thou shalt carry my friendson thy back. This shall be the seat from which prayers rise unto me.
